In what is turning out to be a very frustrating period for the A-Plant Glasgow Tigers, a meeting at the stadium involving building specialists has decreed that another week will be required to ensure that a small section of the track is fit and safe for racing. With the Promotion having already taken the difficult decision to call off the meeting with Newport this coming Sunday, it has been decided that the followings week’s clash with Workington will also be delayed in order to ensure absolute safety. However it is almost certain that everything should be ‘good to go’ after that. Co-Promoter Stewart Dickson knows that everyone at the club will be tearing their hair out:
“Obviously this is something we could have done without but, as I have been saying for several weeks now, I believe we now have a track that will be so exciting for the supporters, so it is essential we have it right before we get racing on it. The problem revolves around an area from the middle of the back straight right round to the crown of the bend between turns three and four. Certain sections in that are exceptionally soft and the real danger is that they collapse during racing. We can’t have that, it would be far too dangerous, so having had a meeting with experts in their field, they have told us the correct remedy required to ensure that problem is erradicated. It will involve work for around one week and we are almost certain that it will be ready for a full scale practice on Sunday 10th April at 2.00pm and that will allow us to host our Meet The Riders event in the bar at 4.30pm.
We do understand the major disappoinitment for all our supporters, they have come into this season full of hope but are getting very frustrated waiting for their first home meeting, but we are not prepared to risk life and limb until such times as it is safe to do so. We are confident that this problem will be erradicated for once and for all with this work and then we can get our home season underway. In the meantime we are looking to try to arrange an away fixture during the period to ensure that our riders get some meetings in and are not too far behind everyone else come the 17th April.
We also still have a mountain of tidying up to do at the stadium and to that end we are appealing to anyone who is able to turn up at the stadium on Sunday to perform a number of tasks that are required. The gates will be open from 10.00am and anyone will be made welcome.”
