The Final Act

It is the final act of the 2011 Senior season at Ashfield this afternoon as the Scottish Cup comes to its conclusion. The first leg on Friday ended up with the Monarchs leading by 12 points setting up nicely the second leg this afternoon. The good news from the Tigers perspective is that David Bellego is fit to race and will take his place in the line-up at number 6 with Shane Parker once again guesting for Joe Screen. he Tigers will operate rider repalcement for Michal Rajkowski.

This will of course be the final meeting in his career for Parker as he brings the curtain down on one of the finest racing careers of the modern time. He served 6 years as a Tiger and is certainly one who has entertained up and down the land and we all wish him well in his retirement.

Obviously we are keeping a close eye on the weather and it is hoped that it does not spoil this occasion. There is no date to rerun this meeting as the Monarchs are away on tour next weekend and will be at Workington next Sunday ruling out any chance of that date being used next week. Every attempt will be made to run the meeting today although at present conditions are fine and everyone is hopeful of ending the season in style as the Tigers aim to pull back the 12 point advantage that Edinburgh have built up.

At present we have no news from the Edinburgh camp as to their team line up for this afternoon with a blank listed at number 6 and no news as to the fitness of Matthew Wethers after his unfortunate fall on Friday.

The referee for the meeting is Stuart Wilson.
