Bandits Want Revenge

Berwick are in the mood for revenge after our win there earlier in the season and they will come into the meeting full of confidence. Once again though, our team is very much uncertain with injury ruling out John Branney and Lee Dicken from the trip to Newport, but both have not yet ruled themselves out for Sunday, indeed both are hopeful of a return against the Borderers.

Below is the full press release ahead of the meeting.

Changes For Newport

Lee Dicken and John Branney have once again failed to make it in time for the trip to Newport on Friday night although both plan a workout before the weekend with a view to Sunday.

Branney is hoping to get some form of practice on Saturday at Workington, either at Derwent Park or the training track at Northside to see if he can overcome some back pain ahead of the meeting with Berwick, while Dicken has had a recent change of medication which hopefully with a couple of extra days may be fit for Sunday too.

In the meantime Michal Rajkowski, a hero at Somerset, will once again guest in the place of John, with rider replacement coming for Lee. Joe Screen will captain the side in Lee’s absence. It is expected that Joe will be fit to race after suffering from flu all week.

Tigers SKY Success

Glasgow A-Plant Tigers long awaited live TV debut on SKY SPORTS proved to be an extremely successful and memorable occasion for all connected with the club as a patched up Tigers side earned a worthy draw at Somerset this evening.

Injury and Guest Update

It was a rough old day for the A-Plant Tigers on Sunday with injury concerns to the fore. The Sunday night update confirms that both John Branney and Lee Dicken will miss the clash with Somerset on the television tomorrow so a guest has been booked in the shape of Mikael Rajkowski of Berwick. He will guest in place of Branney with rider replacement for Lee.

The slightly better news comes in the shape of Nick Morris, whose hip injury sustained in a frightening crash has eased considerably and it is hoped that if he does not suffer any overnight reaction, will be fit to take his place in the side.

Best Ashfield Opponents Arrive On Sunday

Workington have the best record of any visiting side at Ashfield in the league and they come again looking for points. They are well in the hunt for a top four place but will need at least two away wins to get there. They came very close to a win at Birmingham on Wednesday so they are well in form.

The Tigers will wait until the last minute for John Branney, although he is very doubtful. He definitely misses the trip to Rye House and will leave it until Sunday morning to decide on his fitness for Sunday.

Changes For Today

There will be a couple of changes for the meeting at Ashfield today from the programmed line-up with Glasgow utilising rider replacement for John Branney after his horror spill last night. See below for details on John where the news is a lot better than it could have been!

Rye House have also got problems of their own with Robbie Kessler out with a foot injury and given that he has moved into the main body of the team the Rockets will be utislising rider replacement for him and Jordan Frampton picked up a rather nasty knee injury last night at Berwick, and although he walked away from the incident, he was taken to hospital during the early hours in some discomfort. His guest replacement today is Sheffield’s Josef Franc, who is keeping rather busy at the moment having ridden Thursday, Friday and Saturday both for and against Rye House!

We wish all the injured riders a speedy recovery.

John Gets All Clear

John Branney was released from hospital a little after midnight on Saturday after being admitted with wrist and back injuries sustained in that horror heat 10 crash. It was thought that he had suffered a broken wrist but the news is most encouraging in that there is no break and although there are a few cuts and bruises, the wrist is relatively unscathed.

He was still feeling quite groggy in the wake of the crash and will definitely sit out the meeting with Rye House on Sunday at Ashfield and then an assessment will be made before heading to Rye House next Saturday.

Mitchell Back In

There is a team change at Glasgow with Mitchell Davey now fit again after his shoulder injury and he will take his place in the line up for the trip to Workington on Saturday and then at home to Rye House on Sunday.
