21st Oct The Evening Star Ipswich Witches bring the curtain down on the season this Thursday 23rd October with the staging of the 2008 Anglian Willhire 16 Lap Classic. The contest sees a field of twelve riders compete in a twelve heat programme for the right to take part in the gruelling sixteen lap final showdown, where eight riders take to the Foxhall track starting from two separate grids. The four highest scorers in the qualification stage start on the back grid, while the rest start from the usual position. The remaining four riders will contest a six lap consolation final.

15th Oct The Witches promotion have provided a special International challenge match at Foxhall tomorrow night as they stage their penultimate meeting of the 2008 season. The “Lions and The Euros” will race the “Eagles and Roos” at Foxhall Stadium tomorrow night.


Witches duo in ELRC action - Schlein claims 2nd spot

9th Oct Witches loanee Rory Schlein claimed second place in tonight’s ELRC at Birminghams Perry Barr Stadium. Schlein who scored ten points in qualifying claimed second place in the final behind winner Jason Crump of Belle Vue. The Witches other representative Piotr Swiderski scored 5 points and failed to qualify for the semi-final.


Jansson receives cheque for benefit meeting

7th Oct Former Witches rider Kim Jansson has received a benefit cheque of over £8,000 after the special meeting was held for him at Foxhall Stadium Thursday.


Good crowd to honour Kim

3rd Oct On a very cold evening a good crowd turned out at Foxhall Stadium to support the benefit meeting for former rider Kim Jansson. The 25 year old Swede suffered a spinal injury while riding in a Swedish League match in August which has left him paralysed from the waist down. Kim’s parents, Jani and Zelda Jansson had travelled over for the meeting and were introduced to both teams before the start.

Witches play-off final hopes dashed

29th Sept The “Evening Star” Witches hopes of a place in the play-off final is over after a heavy defeat at Pooles Wimbourne Road track earlier tonight. The Witches suffered the worst possible start conceding two  
early 5-1 maximums to their hosts. This proved a ghuge setback and despite some determined riding from Piotr Swiderski, Rory Schlein and Jarek Hampels replacement Kenneth Bjerre the Witches were out of the final reckoning before the final heats had been run.
