The Belle Vue Colts are proud to declare their new-look 2017 septet complete after club bosses confirmed the signing of great British prospect Kyle Bickley and Woodhull twins Ben and Luke.
They will commence their first season at the National Speedway Stadium on April 28th alongside their new team mates Lee Payne, Rob Shuttleworth, Andy Mellish, Dan Bewley and Jack Smith.
At the tender age of 15, Cumbrian-born Bickley has already accumulated a wealth of championship titles and experience including a British Youth 500cc trophy and four British Youth Grasstrack titles.
Some of his most notable distinctions rest in speedway’s 125cc class, in which he has claimed two British Championships with his greatest achievement being a pair of FIM 125cc world titles.
It has been a lifelong dream of the ambitious youngster to don his Belle Vue colours in official league competition after faithfully serving the club as their mascot for many bygone seasons.
His father, Anthony, said: “We’ve been waiting so long for the day when Kyle would be confirmed in the Belle Vue team. It really means a lot to him and it’s the club where he sees his long-term future.
“I know he is really looking forward to his first meeting. He loves the track and he gets on well with all of his new mates, and I know he’s determined to do his best and make the club proud.”
Also making their debut into the world of competitive speedway are Woodhull brothers Ben and Luke, the former of whom will take on the role of the Belle Vue Colts’ No.8 this season.
Since 2008, after practicing at Scunthorpe, the Leicester-based twins have been building their shale sport experience by competing in as many amateur meetings as their schedules allow.
Now with the confidence to take the plunge into the world of National League racing, each is determined to continue their gradual progression while aiming to impress their new bosses.
Williams continued: “Quite a few teams had been taking an interest in the Woodhull brothers for this season and we’re very happy to have secured their services with Belle Vue for the year.
“They rode with us in the Under-16s competition in 2016 and that gave us an insight into the kind of level they’re currently performing at. Through this, we could see great potential in them both.
“Looking at the team we have assembled, we couldn’t be more delighted with how it has come together. Having Kyle Bickley is certainly very pleasing. We know how much he loves Belle Vue.
“For someone so young to already possess such a treasure trove of trophies is a great indication of the many things he’s yet capable of in the future. I’m sure he will fit in well with the rest of the lads.
“It’s each of these riders’ first season in the National League and myself and Graham [Goodwin] are confident that they will rise to the challenges ahead. They are three great British prospects.”
